FORTA Recognized for Excellence in Concrete Pavement

Project Award Recipients

FORTA TAKES SILVER AT THE AMERICAN CONCRETE PAVEMENT ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2019

For three decades, the ACPA “Excellence in Concrete Pavement” awards have honored quality concrete pavements constructed in the United States and Canada.

FORTA Concrete representatives attended the recent ACPA annual conference December 4 – 6 in New Orleans, LA.  During the project awards banquet, ACPA recognized the MN Highway 63 Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Overlay project as the Silver Award winning project in the Highway Overlay category.  This remarkable project involved over 25 lane-miles of 5” thick concrete overlay, all reinforced with 4 lbs./cu yd of the FORTA-FERRO® macro fiber, and led to a subsequent fiber overlay project on MN Highway 25 covering 15 lane-miles.  This represented the first-ever fiber-reinforced concrete overlay in the State of Minnesota, and will hopefully lead to many more miles of FRC in the future.  Accepting the award were the design-engineering team from the MN-DOT, along with the project team of contractor Croell Inc., and our own FORTA representatives Dan Biddle and Bill Coursen.

Special thanks to Croell Inc. for their work on this innovative and award winning project.
