Project Description
This 1,000,000+ square foot facility includes an assembly plant, paint shop, and energy center dedicated to the manufacture of utility van models for a large company based in Germany. Engineers specified FORTA-FERRO® as an alternative to temperature/shrinkage steel. Due to the construction and schedule challenges for this $500 million project, the move to 3-dimensional fiber reinforcement eliminated the time and safety issues involved with the placement, tying, and chairing of the conventional steel reinforcement. The labor and time savings provided by the FORTA-FERRO® allowed the general contractor to maintain the aggressive project schedule and prompted the quick installation of the company manufacturing machinery.
“Replacement of main reinforcing in slabs-on-grade allowed larger slab pours and accelerated flatwork schedule.”
