US Cold Storage Facility – McDonough, GA

McDonough, GA - 2019

Project Description

This US Cold Storage Facility chose Thin Concrete Pavement (TCP) for a new construction expansion at their facility in McDonough, Georgia. Thin Concrete pavement was preferred vs. asphalt as TCP offers far higher durability and service life by increasing the fatigue life span of the pavement to better handle the repeated truck loading requirements in this parking area. TCP also offers less out-of-joint cracking while reducing slab curling and construction costs. Using preferred FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fiber serves to compound these benefits while meeting thickness limitations set forth in this 5” thick TCP. FORTA-FERRO was specified over other macro synthetic fibers due to its 3D disbursement and ease of use as FORTA-FERRO exhibits excellent concrete mixing and placing characteristics.
