Project Description
SuperValu was strategically constructing a new warehouse between Seattle, WA and Portland, OR and the project was bid in two sections, the dry goods storage portion and refrigerated/
freezer storage area. Originally the project was specified with steel, but both the general contractor and concrete contractor had used FORTA-FERRO fibers on past projects and were involved in bringing the use of fibers to the owners and showing them the benefit of using fiber verse rebar. By choosing to use FORTA-FERRO fibers at the 7.5 lb/cu yd dosage, control joints were extended to 40‘ X 50’ in a majority of both slab areas which will result in a smoother floor and reduced maintenance costs. In each case, the fiber dosage used had great mixing, finishing, and performance results. This 27, 000 cu yd project was a huge success for all involved.
