Project Description
The pavement around S&L Spindles, a wood spindle manufacturing building in Millersville, PA, was replaced and reinforced with FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers. Originally steel was specified for the concrete, but a fiber dosage of 3.0 lb/cu yd was chosen. The fibers were used to speed up the process of pouring the concrete as well as give the customer a more impact resistant concrete. Contractors were hoping that by using fibers they would achieve a better wearing surface, and by using FORTA-FERRO fibers they achieved a superior finish and had no mixing problems. This was the first project done by the ready mixer and contractor, and the job went according to plan with no problems.
