Project Description
The project architectural and engineering teams called for a high dosage of fiber reinforcement, rather than a conventional temperature-shrinkage steel reinforcement. The concrete included 7.5 lbs. / cu. yd. of the 2-1/4″ long FORTA-FERRO®, along with an integral color additive. The slab areas covered over 50,000 sq. ft., requiring approximately 700 cubic yards of fiber reinforced concrete. The concrete contractor polished the concrete surfaces for high reflectivity, to enhance the museum’s surroundings, with no surface fibers shown at the surface.
