Project Description
The Pearl City Bus Facility in Hawaii specified fibers be used to reinforce the concrete bus pad. FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers were used at a dosage of 7.5 lb/cu yd in this slab-on-ground. The county chose fiber reinforcement to reduce the use of steel rebar and save taxpayers money. By adding FORTA-FERRO to the mix design, they reduced the effects of environmental impact and long-term cracking to the bus pad. This project demonstrates how fibers can enhance performance concrete.
