Project Description
The Old Dominion Freight Line, in Hermiston, OR, expanded their facility by placing new concrete pavement to receive the high-volume freight coming and going from their facility. The company chose to use FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers in this 2,000-cu yd project with a fiber dosage of 5.0 lb/cu yd. This dosage level has shown to aid in reducing potential cracks and assist in holding together cracks that do occur tightly together. The FORTA-FERRO fibers also make for a tougher more durable slab, as well as aid in impact resistance. Traditional steel reinforcement, even when placed properly, does not offer the same benefits as a properly reinforced FORTA-FERRO fiber slab. This is another example of a nationally recognized company choosing FORTA-FERRO fiber over competitive fibers and traditional steel.
Key Points:
- Reduce Shrinkage Cracking
