Project Description
The owners of Miller Street Apartments in Pittsburgh, PA chose to replace the specified steel in their concrete with FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers. This five story apartment building
consisted of both slab-on-ground and slab-on-metal-deck construction for a total project size of 36,313 sq ft. The fiber allowed the project to stay on schedule because it saved them approximately 5 days of tying steel. The fibers will also reduce cracking in both applications, leading to maintenance savings in the future. In additon, this building was designed to have exceptional energy efficiency and meet the Enterprise Green Communities criteria.
