Project Description
Meyers Dairy in Loganton, PA recently chose FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers to be used in a new slab-on-ground construction that will be used to store large silage bags. This project was 1,000 cu yd and used a dosage of 3 lb/cu yd of 2 1/4 in macro synthetic FORTA-FERRO fibers. They opted to to replace the specified 10 gauge 6 x 6 steel in the 50 x 120 slabs because the contractor wanted to tailgate the concrete rather than pump it. By using fibers and tailgating the concrete, time and money were saved throughout the whole construction process. In addition, this was the first project for either the contractor or the ready mixer to use macro synthetic fibers. The job ran without a problem and the final finish was excellent.
