Project Description
For McMaster-Carr’s 5,500 cu. yd. distribution center warehouse pavement project, consultant Jerry Holland of Structural Services Inc., recommended a higher dosage of fibers as a viable method to reduce curling and extend joint spacing, therefore reducing the need for future joint repairs and issues. For this 6-inch thick pavement cross-section, 7.5 lbs. / cu. yd. of the 2-1/4” FORTA-FERRO® was used. The use of the fiber allowed for extended joint spacing from the conventional 15 ft. spans to 30 ft. or more, depending on panel and roadway layout dimensions. Even at the higher fiber dosage, FORTA-FERRO® mixed thoroughly and evenly throughout the concrete and provided a desirable broom textured finish with minimal surface fiber appearance.
Key Points:
- Superior Finish
- Reduced Curling
- Extended Joints
