Project Description
Originally, wire mesh was considered as the secondary reinforcement for the concrete slab, but Kuhlman Corp. and the contractor, have had positive experiences with the use of FORTA-FERRO®. In result, they recommended the fiber to be examined as an alternate reinforcement method for the project. After realizing the benefits of FORTA-FERRO®, such as impact resistance, abrasion resistance and added toughness, the city of Maumee chose to use the fiber at a dosage of 5.0 lbs. / cu. yd. to replace the wire mesh. The FORTA-FERRO® mixed uniformly and placed without any issues. The contractor experienced no issues with finishing the surface, resulting in an excellent broom finish.
