Manufacturing Facility Addition (Part 2) – Hammond, LA

This international manufacturing facility, headquartered in the New Orleans area, manufactures conveyor belt systems and food processing equipment. It is the second addition to their facility in which they used non-corrosive FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fiber instead of traditional steel fiber. FORTA-FERRO makes it possible to use a lower dosage rate of fiber per cu yd of concrete versus the higher rate used with steel fibers. This also allows them to avoid some of the potential difficulties of dealing with steel fiber. In addition to synthetic fiber being easier for ready-mix companies to add to their trucks, it is also easier to place and finish.
