Project Description
The Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown, Pa is planning a $111 million expansion that will add 120,000 sq ft and more than double the capacity of the Emergency Department. FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers were chosen to replace specified steel in both the slab-on-ground and slab-on-metal-deck applications at a dosage of 3.0 lb/cu yd. Owners converted to fiber to help with cost and time savings. They also wanted the benefit of less cracking that the fiber reinforced concrete offers. This is a great example of how fiber can be used from the ground floor and throughout the whole building.
