Lower Poplar WRF & Rocky Creek Aeration Basin – Macon, GA

Macon, GA - 2020

Description

This Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) and Aeration Basin had originally specified #4 rebar 10” on center each way in the top of the cross section. This traditional steel reinforcement was replaced with 8.0 lb/cu yd FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers, using a 35’ x 35’ joint spacing. The WRF and Aeration Basin, which is loaded with 16 feet of water is highly susceptible to corrosion if using traditional steel reinforcements. FORTA-FERRO is non-corrosive, non-magnetic, and 100% Alkali proof which saved the contractor a tremendous amount of time and money by eliminating the conventional steel rebar reinforcement. This also eliminated the unloading of the steel, the storing, craning it to the bottom of the basin, labor to tie, chair and place the steel reinforcement.
