Description
Supply issues motivated contractors to convert the specified steel mesh to reinforcement fiber in this 5-story slab-on-metal-deck project. 6×6 w2.1w2.1 was replaced with FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fiber at a dosage of 4.0 lb/cu yd. This eliminated storage and theft concerns, the crane time needed to place the mesh, and greatly reduced safety hazards. Wire mesh can be difficult to lay down and raise a tripping hazard on job sites. FORTA-FERRO allows for significant safety improvements while also decreasing labor and total project costs.
