Project Description
A high-quality leading manufacturer of globally distributed products replaced the previously specified steel with FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers in their new construction. This company, located in Commerce, GA, used a 5.0 lb/cu yd fiber dosage in their slab-on-ground application. The use of FORTA-FERRO fibers allowed and accelerated concrete pour time by eliminating restriction of the laser screed’s mobility during concrete placement. The speed and ease of placing fibers verse the time-consuming process of chairing and installing conventional wire mesh allowed approximately 27,000 sq ft of flooring to be installed during the first pour. In addition, FORTA-FERRO-fibers were chosen for superior crack control. Fiber reinforcement is correctly oriented in the concrete when added and does not lay on the bottom as is frequently the case with wire mesh. All parties involved in the project were impressed with the ease of mixing, placing, and finishing of the concrete with FORTA-FERRO fibers.
