Project Description
For a large national hotel chain in Kennesaw, GA, the engineers specified FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers be used for the slab-on-ground applications. The total project size was 600 cu yd and a total of 1,800 lb of fibers were used. FORTA-FERRO macro fibers made the construction easier since there were numerous conduits throughout the slab for plumbing and electrical wires. By not using wire mesh or steel rebar throughout the slab for reinforcement, the tripping and falling hazards were removed that are dangerous for workers. FORTA-FERRO eliminated the labor of placing steel, created a shorter construction time, and assured the reinforcement was in the correct position.
