Project Description
The General Health System Medical Building project represented an opportunity for fiber reinforcement alternate to conventional temperature-steel to offer both performance and cost advantages. After reviewing their reinforcement options, the project engineers chose FORTA-FERRO® at a dosage of 5.0 lbs. / cu. yd. The use of fibers allowed for a faster construction process by eliminating the time and labor needed to properly place and position the welded-wire fabric, and provided a more uniform three-dimensional crack control reinforcement. Even at a dosage of 5.0 lbs. / cu. yd., the FORTA-FERRO® offered a superior surface finish, and minimized shrinkage-related cracking on 108,000 square feet of composite metal deck construction that required 2,000 cubic yards of concrete and 10,000 pounds of fiber.
Key Points:
- Superior Finish
- Extreme Durability
- Speed of Construction
