FORTA-FERRO macro-synthetic fibers were specified in this slab-on-metal deck new construction. This 640,000 sq ft robotic distribution center holds the distinction of being the first of its kind in the state of Georgia. This center allows for approximately 3 million sq ft of fulfillment space. The use of FORTA-FERRO reinforcement fibers provides enhanced crack control, thus giving the superior finish needed for robotics. Also, FORTA FERRO macro-synthetic fibers increase abrasion resistance to resist surface wear of the concrete due to constant robotic traffic and therefore serves to minimize issues with the robots getting “off track” which causes operation issues. In addition to the interior concrete, approximately 16,000 yds of exterior paving were done using 5 lb/cu yd of fiber which will enhance durability and increase the life span of the concrete pavement.
