Project Description
A distribution warehouse specified FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers to reinforce the concrete being placed in its new building in Buffalo, NY. This project is 1,240 cu yds with a fiber dosage of 7.5 lb/cu yd. The owners wanted smooth, flat, low-maintenance floors with minimal joints for a long life and smooth forklift transit. The fiber reinforced slab design enabled extended saw cut joint spacing, making for low-maintenance floors. Using fiber also allowed the contractor to concentrate on achieving a smooth floor finish and not worry about cutting, lifting, and placing traditional steel reinforcement. As a result, using fibers allowed the building to open more quickly. This forward-thinking design and quality construction saved time and money. In the end, customers, employees, and their bottom line will benefit from using fiber in this innovative design.
