Having used FORTA-FERRO^® successfully on past projects and realizing the time savings and overall cost savings, Hoy Construction utilized the fiber in this project in West Virginia. They submitted FORTA-FERRO^® at 4.0 lbs. / cu. yd. as an alternative to traditional wire mesh and as a temperature shrinkage reinforcement on this 5 story slab-on-metal-deck apartment building at WVU. The fibers mixed uniformly and were placed by pumping the concrete to each level. A machine finish was then used to achieve a fuzz-free surface. It was noted by the project manager, when using wire mesh on the decks, by the end of the day at least one of the workers will have tripped and fallen. Substituting the wire mesh with FORTA-FERRO^® eliminates this safety hazard.
