Description
What happens when a creek blocks the path to a new homesite? Caldwell Concrete constructed a precast bridge on site. This bridge had to hold up to thousands of yards worth of loaded concrete trucks passing over during construction of the home. Concrete delivered over this bridge was used for the poured walls, slab on ground, composite metal decks, and driveway pavement applications.
FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers were used at a dosage of 5.0 lb/cu yd along with conventional steel reinforcement to give added structural benefits to the bridge deck and beams. Cast in place, were the deck and approach, while the precast grinders and wall parapets were set into place by crane. Abutments were also constructed onsite.
UPDATE:
The use of FORTA-FERRO reinforcement fibers has reduced micro cracking and added needed toughness. These fibers have increased impact and fatigue resistance as well as increasing post crack residual strength.
