Project Description
Oakland Construction replaced reinforcing steel with macro synthetic fiber at BioFire’s new diagnostics facility in Salt Lake City. The exterior design included insulated tilt panels made up of an 8” structural face, 2” of insulation, and a 3” architectural face. The panel texture was achieved utilizing a urethane form liner and the concrete was left exposed. FORTA-FERRO was used to eliminate the need for steel reinforcement in the architectural face. This saved both time and cost of furnishing and installing the mesh and eliminated the risk of steel displacement during the pour.
