Project Description
FORTA-FERRO® was also used to replace steel on the Hangar 10 project for Missouri River Aviation at the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown MKC Airport in Kansas City, KS, a project that was included in the April 2011 “Aviation International News” Top 10 Aviation Service Provider Facilities in the United States. In addition to the fibers being used to reduce and control cracking, both projects utilized specialty floor treatment topping systems to add to the facility aesthetics and floor reflectivity. The fibers were used at a dosage of 7.5 lbs. / cu. yd. as an alternate to two mats of #4 reinforcing bars on 12″ centers for the 8″ thick floor slab. The three-dimensional FORTA-FERRO® fiber reinforcement proved to be very compatible with the finishing and polishing processes on this 400 cubic yard floor project.
Key Points:
- Reduced Cracking
