Project Description
A large well-known American manufacturer replaced their parking lot and loading dock area in Winchester, VA. After a discussion with an accredited engineer, the architect and owner agreed to replace specified steel with fiber in this project. They chose FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers at a dosage of 4.0 lb/cu yd for this 1,000-cu yd project. The contractor on this job had used our fibers on other projects and was very supportive of using it on this project as well. The owner was looking to reinforce the concrete so it could withstand the high-volume traffic of the trucks. In the end, they saw better results and performance with FORTA-FERRO fiber over rebar. In addition, the concrete was tailgated rather than pumped, so the elimination of rebar saved time not only pouring the concrete, but also tying and placing the rebar.
