Allied Plastics

Twin Lakes, WI - October 2014

Project Description

Allied Plastics, Inc. is a full-service custom thermoforming service provider specializing in vacuum forming, twin sheeting and pressure forming medium to heavy gauge parts. The design engineer for this company’s most recent addition chose to use hairpin slab design, which is always a challenge when considering the use of fibers. Traditionally, continuous reinforcement is used over the hairpins and extends throughout the slab. However, because the professionals at Swederski Concrete appreciate the value and benefits that fiber reinforcement adds to concrete, they decided to challenge the tradition. They satisfied the hairpin design calculations by using perimeter WWF (approximately 15’). The remainder of the slab was then completed using 4.0 lbs. / cu. yd. of FORTA-FERRO®. The 53,000 sq. ft. concrete floor was placed at a thickness of 6 inches. Once again, FORTA-FERRO® provided easy placement methods and superior three-dimensional reinforcement.
