Project Description
AES Coal was in need of constructing a new flyash storage facility. The contractor, having completed a similar project, recommended the use of FORTA-FERRO® macro synthetic fiber as the temperature-shrinkage reinforcement. FORTA-FERRO® also aided in the making of a more durable and tougher concrete to withstand the loaders being driven on the slab. The contractor stated that using FORTA-FERRO®, in lieu of traditional steel reinforcement, made for a safer work environment. In addition, the use of fiber eliminated the need for pumping the concrete and sped up the construction process for the crew.
