Description
A new 85,800 sq ft hotel construction used FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fiber to reinforce the concrete in the slab-on-ground and all 9 elevated floor decks in this mid-rise building. A fiber dosage of 3.0 lb/cu yd in the bottom slab and a dosage of 4.0 lb/cu yd in the metal decks replace the originally specified 6 X 6 W1.4 X W1.4 wire mesh. By using fibers, contractors eliminated unloading, moving, storing, cutting, tying, and chairing wire mesh – reducing construction time and overall costs. FORTA-FERRO offers reinforcement throughout the concrete affording superior crack control, instead of reinforcement on a single plane that wire mesh provides.
