The large fulfillment center located in Spokane, WA is one of many this company has chosen to use FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers in to reinforce their concrete floors. In this fulfillment center, the concrete floors total 33,333 cu yd and have a fiber dosage of 7.5 lb/cu yd. The consulting engineer developed a specialized floor system for the slab-on-metal-deck applications that not only includes the 7.5 lb/cu yd dosage, but also #3 rebar 4 inches on center. The deck areas are the domain of the robots used by the company for loading and unloading racks in the process of fulfilling customer orders. It is critical that the floors do not have cracks that would cause any costly delays or stoppages so once the floors are in operation human activity is kept to a minimum. Using FORTA-FERRO fibers allow them to save time by reducing the amount of rebar to tie and place, while providing the superior finish need to excel in daily operations.
