Project Description
A steel fabrication facility that manufactures all types of tooling for drilling, boring, and metal cutting applications, used FORTA- FERRO macro synthetic fibers at a dosage of 6.0 lb/cu yd to reinforce a warehouse floor in an expansion facility. The floor also received a reflective dry-shake hardener for increased surface strength and increased light while reducing needed power. Fibers add ductility and impact strength which aids in an environment that is subject to heavy vibration because of the processing equipment and robotics. Steel replacement with FORTA-FERRO also reduced shrinkage cracking, allowing for a more stable foundation in these conditions. Additionally, the project was under a roof and rough wall frame, making it unavailable to pump in the concrete. Therefore, the fiber replacement allowed for ready-mix trucks to back into the job without crushing steel reinforcements.
Key Points
- Reduced Shrinkage Cracking
- Add Ductility & Impact Strength
- Reduced Construction Time
