Project Description
Castle Court, a 176-unit apartment complex off Hamilton Road in Castle Shannon, PA, replaced specified steel with FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers. This project totaling 300 yd, required a
dosage of 3.0 lb/cu yd. By forgoing wire mesh and reinforcing both the ground slab and composite metal decks with fiber, the contractors achieved a safer construction area without tripping hazards. The apartment owner is targeting young professionals and people looking to downsize, so keeping rent costs reasonable is a main concern. Using FORTA-FERRO lowered the overall cost and schedule time of the entire project. The ready mix supplier had never worked with FORTA-FERRO fibers before and was “very happy with the results”.
